Hi!
I'm Julie. I like nature in general and especially of my region. It is very beautiful in the forest or on the river in any season of year. But now, to tell the truth, we can often see felled trees, toren up by the roots flowers, mushrooms. Often we see on TV messages about forest fires, death of the animals and other catastrophes in the natural world.

In our country there are "green party", "green patrol", and many forest reserves, which are guarded by the state.

Many purposes are worked for protect nature, but problems are still more. And general problem is Chernobyl. But we try to do the best for saving of the environment. I'm a member of a school ecologic club "Children of Earth". We organize actions advocating our surrounding, clean the streets of our town from the trush, looking after trees and flowers.

You have such clubs in your town, haven't you? What is their aim?
How do you solve ecology problems?

Let me introduce myself. My name is Christina-Maria. I live in Chernivtsi. I am a pupil in the 9th form. I not only do my best at school; I also attend the Medical Academy, because I want to become a doctor. I like this profession and I am eager to get a medical education and work at a hospital. It is a good tradition in our family. My father is a doctor, my grandfather is a doctor, and I want to be a doctor, too.

My hobby is ecology. I like to read books and watch films about ecology. As I"ve said live in Chernivtsi, it is one of the most beautiful and unusual cities in the Ukraine. There lies on the Prut River. It is mountainous river. It flows to the Dnister and then to Black Sea. The population of our town likes to rest on the banks of the Dniester and the Prut. Last summer my family and I spent some days on the riverside. We swam, became tanned, sang songs, played various games. Unfortunately the water in our rivers is not clean. It is polluted with factory waste.

Chernivtsi has a wonderful park. It is situated in the center of the town it is rather old: more then hundred years old. There are many rare trees and bushes people like to walk there, especially in summer and autumn. Some squirrel families live in our park. People care for them especially in winter. Children often come there to feed the squirrels. They like to eat nuts and mushrooms. They wait for people to knock nuts which attracts the squirrels. We try to take care of the unique nature of our parks.
