HIKE THE WORLD..AT H. H. H. S.

Friday, January 10 was a day of appreciation for the wonders of Nature. Sixth graders joined together for a day of trail fun. They had a wonderful hike and all the time they were surrounded by breathtaking sc enes of the various mountains and valleys there.

The trip started with a quick breakfast and then we rushed to start our hike. We spent the whole day outside, in the mountains. While hiking, we experienced a lot of things. We found a few mushrooms, remnants of animal skeleton, frogs, and different kinds of trees (oak, pine, willow, feathery..). We also passed by many footprints of deer, dogs, and horses and saw caves and many streams.

After 3 hours hiking, we reached a wide meadow. The view was panoramic and spectacular; the air was fresh and it was sunny. So we decided to rest a little bit, eat a snack, and play a game. We were thankful that there was a spring nearby and we refilled our water supply with some cold water.

Then we continued our hike up and we finally reached the bus at about 4 p.m. We were happy to be there after a long day with the heat on us all day.

Here are some poems students wrote:

Rough? Tough? Tiring? We faced all that stuff!!! We climbed, walked, and ran for hours..
But still we had fun ...

We saw pretty weird trees surrounded by fleas And a stream;but the danger we faced was extreme!! We were engulfed in a moment of clear peace And the air we breathe called for an opportunity to seize We felt close to the sole keeper of life No single trail was spoiled by the rudeness of mankind

We learned about Nature and how important it is...
We even had to clean it!
We had to pick up the old empty bullets
And write down our lovely sonnets
And remember to Leave Nature untouched

Raneem Ballouli

One sunny day
On the hills we were,
In a bus with our schoolmates
We reached at noon
Then,hiking started soon
With a lovely feeling to clean our land. On the mud we passed,
Holding our plastic bags
To put all the trashes and cans.
Over excited we were to see the nature again In an untouchable scene
With the birds singing everywhere
Together we gathered in the bus,
Hoping to hike again.

The mountain was high,
Near the endless sky.
The forest was low
Where we encounter the water flow
The sun was like a gun
When we were going to run.
Lisa was 55 years old,
When we thought her young as gold.
The trip was going to be done,
when the sun was gone.

The majestic mountains outline the endless sky The magnificent sun shimmers in your eye The feathery trees wish you a happy day

Please Never allow them to poison the scene No matter how hard they try
Fight till the end of time.

One early morning we went hiking.
It was a sunny day
We began to walk not climbing
We crossed the rivers and picked the hay Jumping and singing all the way
We had so much fun, we ate and played
We went so high and went low
So fast and sometimes slow
At the end we had to go.
