Students from Tartu Nature House explore Peipus Lake
The students of Tartu Nature House celebrated the astronomical beginning of spring on 20-th of March with a bus-trip to the coast of Lake Peipus.

We hiked along the coast and saw many interesting things. We visited the museum pertaining to Old Believers, climbed on the erratic boulder field of Nina village and went to the Alatskivi Castle.

But the most exiting things were the high heaps of the pack ice on the coast of lake Peipus. The diameter of the ice-plates was approximately 2 meters and thickness 25-30 centimeters.

Our answers to The Big Questions are:
1.-The weather was cool (+2C/35F) and cloudy with moderate west-wind.
2.-3. We saw swans and heard larks
4. & 6.- All the broadleaf trees were leafless so we tried to recognize them by the shoots. We saw limes, oaks, maples, birches and willows with catkins
8.- 9. We hiked about 2-3 km (1,2-1,8 miles) and drove by bus about 100 km (62,5 miles)
10. - The elevation of the highest point was approximately 60 metres (200 feet)
