Pollution
- The Greatest Disaster of Lebanon

Pollution in general is a major issue in
Lebanon and concerns every citizen of the country. There are many different
forms of pollution affecting the people, which are clouding the atmosphere
and greatly harming everyone's health.
First of all, air pollution is the greatest
threat towards the health of the Lebanese. Direct actions must be taken
in order to protect the citizens and lessen the extreme dangers that are
increasing daily. Toxic and virulent fumes have excessively been transmitted
into the atmosphere by factories. This release of toxic fumes must
be controlled. The production of many commodities will further contaminate
the air, but by recycling, less toxins will be released.
The enormous usage of cars should also
be reduced through the use of buses and car-pooling, or riding bikes.
By doing this, people could travel in a manner that is friendly to the
environment, as well as get exercise to improve their health.

Next, compared to thier knowledge of air pollution,the Lebanese are not so familiar with soil pollution; it is still an important factor that risks the viridity of the nation. Little do most Lebanese know, but soil pollution should urgently be demolished. Certain sprays such as pesticides get absorbed into our fruits and vegetables, which may cause poisoning if they are not properly scrubbed and washed. They wickedly destroy the ozone layer and may also affect the natural genetic reproduction of certain foods, making them harmful to people. These hazardous sprays should stop immediately, and Lebanese farmers should grow their products more often in green houses to avoid insects and creepy crawlers.
Water
pollution is also not as familiar to the Lebanese people as air pollution
is, but everyone should be aware of it. Our natural waste greatly
harms our health. A cycle forms when we dump our wastes in the water:
fish find it and eat it, and then people catch the fish to have for dinner.
This is very dangerous and extremely harmful to our nutritional diet,
causing bacteria build-up in our digestive systems. The sewage organization
must be taken care of at once. It should be reasonably arranged and constructed
by experts so that none of it is to get dumped into the water.
Finally, land pollution, better known as
trash, is a major problem here in Lebanon. Many people are too careless
and lazy to find a garbage can, and dump their trash randomly on the streets.
This produces intolerable odors and inhumanely polluted sites all around
the country. In certain areas, the people try to get rid of their worthless
wastes or matter of any kind by burning it to ashes. Also, the famous
Sukleen Company has done a great deal of reducing the amounts of trash
nation-wide, especially Beirut. Some measures have been taken
to recycle some products such as glass, paper, and cardboard, but it is
still not enough.The new and common tax added value to all products being
sold could mean that the government is lacking required amounts of money.
This is harming a vast number of people's income to support their families
and pay debts. The money could be acquired by fining people who are caught
throwing trash carelessly around the streets. Police and security must
keep watch at all times to fine violators who threaten to destroy the
striking and unique beauty of Lebanon.
In conclusion, extreme measures must be
taken as soon as possible in order to make every Lebanese citizen aware
of the crucial corrupting condition of one of the most beautiful countries
in the world. The Lebanese government must take action at once, by focusing
everyone's attention to save the country. Gathering groups, creating advertisements,
banners, or slogans could do this. Officers and police must be put on
watch at all times and fine people who try to corrupt the beauty of Lebanon.
We all must learn and eventually work together as one to vanquish the
corruption, and to conserve the natural image of our country.
