Ecotourism Project at the Valley
International School
Our project description, grade 7

Hi, I am Hana Mae Nassar. I am a student in Grade Seven at Valley International School. My Class is working on a unique project. Our project is a brochure about Ecotourism. I will explain what eco tourism is: it is made up of two words "eco" and "tourism". Tourism is when people visit a country or a region and learn more about it. The "eco" in Ecotourism stands for ecology, which means the study of the nature that surrounds us. Therefore, Ecotourism means tourism that draws people closer to nature and helps them value nature and understand it better. The purpose of this brochure is to avoid going online all the time just to look for a good place to go and have some fun here in Lebanon because face it, we all know how tiring that can get!!
Well this brochure is one of a kind. What I mean is that we are the first students that have ever made a brochure about Ecotourism. This brochure will be distributed to different places such as the Ministry of Tourism, airports, Travel Agencies, Cafes, Restaurants, Hotels etc. We really hope that this brochure will be a success. Until then we will be working really hard to make this brochure unique. We want ours to be the best, especially that this is the work of students. I really hope that this brochure is going to be used very often!!!!

This is a descriptive paragraph on our project, a brochure.
Our project is about eco touristic sites in Lebanon. We started off by searching the Internet on eco tourism in general. To sum it up, there are many kinds of eco tourism sites: historical, nature, etc. all countries have tourism. To narrow down, we searched on eco tourism in Lebanon. We found out about many sites such as la reserve, Libantrek, ibex, green peace, and many more. Now, we have most of the information we need, but probably not up to date. So we have written a letter to the organizations saying that we need more info, such as their address and we asked for their sponsorship. We managed to get a guest speaker from la reserve, Mr. Paul Ariss, who explained about eco tourism in general. When we eventually have all the info, we will invite a graphic designer to guest speak at our school, to tell us how to layout the brochure. If by then we have enough money, thanks to the sponsors, we will go to the printing press. If we still lack some money, we will organize bake sales and other money raisers. When we have all the money that we need, off to the printing press. We will go there as a field trip and a business trip. While we are there we will learn how they print the copies, and we will give them the brochure layout for them to print. When the brochure is finished, we will send the brochure to hotels, travel agencies, airlines, etc. we all hope that our brochure will be a success!
